MAKE MONEY ON THE WEB

Adsense Blog - A beginners page

This is a true blog. My thoughts about the "Adsense Program" and similar programs from Google, Yahoo, and others will come spilling out onto this page as a "newbie" to this area. However, It will read from oldest post to newest post, so it reads like a book. Adsense refers to those mini ads on the side of the page. Most websites devoted to Adsense are complicated, and have their own agendas. Here, I will be discussing the program as I find out about it with YOUR help. In short, most website operators who use Adsense mini-ads inside their pages are doing so in order to compensate for expenses of putting together their page. There are apparently ways to optimize Adsense and similar programs. Much of this is explained by Google, some of the information you have to dig for. If you search for Adsense information pages you will find a wealth of information on the subject, but may get confused, so I'll take it slow here. The first thing you should know is to apply for Adsense (or its opposite counterpart, Adwords, to be described) you need to click on Advertising Programs just below the google search box when you go to google. Or just GO TO THIS LINK TO APPLY. You need to have a page to apply, and if you read further you will see that it may be better to start from scratch, so don't worry if you don't already have a website, you will be better off if you don't!

After applying, it takes about a day or two for Google to approve your site after making sure there is some content, and that it is not objectionable. The golden rule about Adsense is to NOT CLICK ON YOUR OWN ADS. I'll explain that later.

A BIG GOOF shows how well Adsense "SENSES"

Although I haven't really gotten to explain how to place an Adwords ad yet, and how you can "test the ads" without really placing them to see many different things about how this all works, I have to confess I made QUITE the error when fiddling with this last night. I developed a new ad, by joining the Google Adwords program, a test ad to see how much certain "keywords" were worth. In order to do that, I indicated I would pay a lot of money to place the ad, just poking in some numbers here or there, never really expecting to use the ad "for real". Well, sure enough, I didn't delete it when my computer went down, or some other distraction, & poof! hours later I was out $110.00. . . from just 15 clicks on an ad called . "Todd is good".. which really was not intended to be placed. THE IMPORTANT POINT THOUGH IS THAT GOOGLE PLACE THE AD RIGHT HERE, SENSING THE WORD 'TODD' THROUGHOUT ON THIS SITE! I would not have figured out my goof if I didn't see the ad place on this page randomly by Google!

Lesson of the day: Be careful while experimenting, there is real money involved.. AND of course, the AD "SENSE" really does sense what the content of the page is all about. Third lesson: TODD as a "keyword", can run quite a bit of money. No idea why.

MOST KIDS IGNORING ADSENSE?

I haven't really gotten into anything heavy yet on this page, but I can tell you this, it is an immediate overview of the Adsense program and shows how money can be made immediately by placing small ads on your page. I was at a career day lecture in Natick, Ma. on 3/7/06 and not ONE of the teenagers had any Adsense or similar programs on any of their pages, in fact, there were only around a dozen or so kids out of the entire Junior class that had their own web pages at all, if that. I'm so used to young weather whiz-kids at 11 and 12 putting together these economic ventures that it didn't occur to me that most kids just throw in the towel, use MYSPACE blogs if anything, and let the advertising revenue go somewhere else, instead of making small amounts of money that could have paid for their monthly car payment. More on this later..
