Adwords vs. Adsense

The very first thing that sometimes is not described clearly when researching the topic of adding the ads to your page is that Adsense, the ads you are using from Google, are simply coming from the "Adwords" campaign, which is 180 degrees the opposite. Advertisers use Adwords, which are specific "keywords" so that they can advertise their product or service. Those Adwords campaigns end up as the ads that are placed on your page once Google's automated content sensor (thus "sense") also known as a web crawler, or spider, determines the content of your website. So, if you are a seller of medical supplies as an example, you may want to advertise on pages that specialize in talking about medical issues. The Adword campaign would request that only pages with content relating to the medical industry would carry their ads. On the flip side, the website devoted to medical issues will automatically have these Adword campaigns popping up on their site. So, in short, Adwords refers to what the advertisers use, Adsense refers to what the website or blog owners would use.  As a very clear example, the ads on the side of this page came up within minutes of my posting about the Adsense and Adwords program. They automatically "sensed" that I was talking about Google's programs. If you are interested in advertising on other people's websites you should check into Google's Adwords here.
